Arestovich Alexey Nikolaevich, former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, blogger, actor, political and military commentator.

Place of Birth

Born on August 3, 1975 in the city of Dedoplistskaro, Georgian SSR.

Education

1992 – graduated from school No. 178 in Kyiv. Entered the Faculty of Biology of Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv.

1993 – began to play in the modern Kiev theater-studio “Black Square”, stopped studying at a higher educational institution.

1998 – graduated from the general military department of the Odessa Institute of Ground Forces with a degree in military translator.

Career

1993-2000 – actor of the Kyiv theater-studio “Black Square”. He starred in commercials and played episodic roles in 17 Russian and Ukrainian films.

1994-2005 – worked in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, reserve major (data needs additional confirmation).

2003-2010 – the author’s school “Man Among People” by Russian psychologist Absalom Podvodny. He also studied theology at the Kiev Institute of St. Thomas Aquinas.

2007 – co-organizer of the film production company Aegis Artist Group.

2013 – participated in the filming of the show “Learn How to Live” on the ICTV channel as a family psychologist and presenter.

2000 – currently – conducts psychological seminars and trainings.

Political activity and military service

2005 – joined the Brotherhood party, was deputy chairman of Dmitry Korchinsky’s party. Repeatedly participated in conferences of the “International Eurasian Movement” of Alexander Dugin.

2009 – together with Dmitry Korchinsky, he organized the civil initiative “Get Usikh”.

June 2009 – August 2009 – Deputy Chairman of the Primorsky District Administration of the Odessa City Council, resigned from the position of his own free will.

2014-2017 – participation in the training of combat formations within the framework of the “People’s Reservist” program, organizer of a charitable foundation to provide psychological support to the military in the ATO zone.

September 2018 – September 2019 – served in the Joint Forces Operation zone in the Kramatorsk region in the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a reconnaissance officer. According to his own statements, before that he fought on a volunteer basis, making 33 combat trips beyond the front line.

October 28, 2020 – Leonid Kravchuk was appointed advisor on information policy and speaker of the Ukrainian delegation in the Tripartite Contact Group (TCG) at negotiations in Minsk on resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

December 1, 2020 – Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak appointed Arestovich as his freelance adviser on strategic communications in the field of national security and defense.

January 2022 – resigned from the position of freelance adviser to the head of the President’s Office and from the position of speaker of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, however, according to the President’s Office, Arestovich did not sign a letter of resignation and “perhaps this cooperation will be continued.”

January 17, 2023 – wrote a letter of resignation from the position of adviser to the Office of the President. Subsequently, the Office of the President granted Arestovich’s request to be dismissed from office.

Family

Married. Wife Anastasia Gribanova (since 2015), development director at one of the publishing houses. The couple is raising a common son and daughter, Alexei, from their first marriage.

Criticism

In September 2021, Arestovich criticized the policy of de-Russification, in particular in the fight against the dominance of Russian culture, saying that “culture and sports are outside of politics.”

In June 2022, Arestovich said that Ukrainian culture is too small: “Many people in Ukraine want to build a big country with a small culture. A small unified culture suitable for a very small mono-ethnic state like Hungary. But Ukraine is not that kind of country. We are a multicultural country.”

On June 19, 2022, Arestovich called members of the LGBT community “people with deviation” or “deviations” from normal behavior.

On June 21, 2022, Arestovich stated that “a woman in the army is a horror.”

On July 14, 2022, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Taras Kremin called Arestovich a violator of the law on the state language.

In February 2023, Arestovich stood up for the Russian language: if the rapist spoke to the victim in Ukrainian, will it become the language of the aggressor?

In June 2023, Arestovich stood up for a guy who publicly sang Tsoi’s song in Lviv.

On July 17, 2023, Arestovich allowed the division of Ukraine on the principle of “Germany-GDR” for joining NATO.

In September 2023, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Inna Sovsun announced that she had filed a complaint with law enforcement officers about Arestovich’s sexist statements.

In October 2023, the National Police of Ukraine registered criminal proceedings against Arestovich for scandalous statements about women, whom he called “creatures that you want to strangle.”

On October 16, 2023, Arestovich stated that “the Secretary of the National Security Council Alexei Danilov is of no use.”
